Pepper's Hey Jude - "Jude"

NOT AVAILABLE

Update: (4/28/25)

Jude's brother is going home tomorrow! Jude himself is doing great, he's eating solid hard food and we've had no other attacks. He does indeed have his health certificate and is about to get his second set of vaccines on Wednesday. He's absolutely still looking for his home and is ready to go with an approved application!

Update: (4/3/25)

Jude is doing much better and gaining weight nicely. He's eating fine as long as we soak the kibble in water and has had no other attacks. He has finished his medication and will be seeing the vet next week. We are hopeful he will be ready for his vaccines and health certificate and can go home to his people about a week later. He has a nice family coming to meet him this weekend. We're hoping they are the right fit for him!

Update: (3/26/25)

This little guys is super tiny! This past Sunday he decided to take a walk down Hypoglycemia Way and gave me quite the heart attack. So often these little guys will do this over night when you are sleeping. On my usual morning walk about to check all the babies he wasn't responding so I rushed to get him some emergency nutrients and a sugar boost. After that I checked his temperature and found it was low so we got him set up on a heating pad and worked to warm him up. He perked up after about an hour and I was able to get him to drink water on his own which is a huge step in the right direction. He wasn't interested in eating though. After another nutrition boost and more water he still wasn't interested so aggressive feeding had to be tried. Sometimes these little guys will end up super nauseous and won't eat without help. Aggressive feeding involved a syringe and wet food... after the second attempt he was a little more interested in eating but really not on his own. He did alright through the night but was once again pretty groggy Monday morning. Thankfully it was also health certificate day so we already had an appointment with the vet first thing.

I had noted he had lost a few ounces and when they are this small it is a really scary thing to lose any weight at all. He's currently sitting at 20oz at 9 weeks. The vet looked him over and said physically he looks fine but did a fecal (checked his poop) and said there was a small indication he could be fighting some infection. So she sent us home with some medicine and we will be waiting for a couple of weeks before getting any vaccines. We are hopeful he gains back a decent amount of weight in the interim. My working theory is that while his brother had no problem eating hard food, little Jude wasn't so excited about it and Lacey was still feeding him entirely. I had thought I'd seen him eating hard food a couple of times but its possible he wasn't. Once Lacey started to wean them there wasn't as much milk for him and he started to crash. I am currently offering some special wet food from the vet with softened hard food so we can get him transitioned to regular kibble. Or at least try!

His home will have to be a specialized home well versed in itty bitties, with new owners that will be around most of the time so he can be watched. He is still available for deposit but it will be awhile before he can go home. We need to make sure he's stabilized and is able to get his vaccines. Generally speaking I prefer they are at least 1.75lb at the smallest before a full set. Once he's past the medicine we may do a single dose of parvo and then wait another 3 weeks before trying for his health certificate again. It will depend on what our vet suggests.

As of today, he has gained an ounce which is a great thing and he's eating and drinking on his own. He's quite unhappy about being away from his mother and brother but I need to be able to monitor what he eats. Wish this little guy luck on his recovery!

Jude was born weighing 3.6oz. He's a Black and Tan Parti that probably won't show any tan points. He will carry white but could carry dilute and chocolate.

Pepper's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - "Sarge"

NOT AVAILABLE

Update: (3/26/25)

Sarge is still looking for his people! He passed his vet check on Monday and we have his health certificate in hand. He can go home as soon as this weekend upon approved application!

Sarge was born weighing 6.1oz. He's also Black and Tan Parti that probably won't show any tan points. He will carry white but could carry dilute and chocolate.
