Pepper's Breaking The Habit - "Habby"

UPDATE – July 30, 2026

Habby is growing into such a fun little puppy! Like many Pomeranians his age, he's currently in the middle of the infamous "monkey face" stage. His fluffy puppy coat has completely shedded while his beautiful adult coat is growing in, so he's looking a little scruffy at the moment. Don't let that fool you! This is a completely normal stage of Pomeranian development.

One thing I've been especially happy to see this week is how much he's maturing. During his nail trim, he was incredibly patient and cooperative. Like any playful puppy, he still wanted to mouth my hand while I worked, but what impressed me most was watching him catch himself. Several times he started to chew, paused, realized he shouldn't, and made an honest effort to stop. It's a small moment, but those little decisions are exactly how puppies learn good manners. Watching them begin to think before they react is one of my favorite parts of raising them.

Habby continues to be a happy, affectionate little boy who genuinely enjoys spending time with people. He's playful, curious, and always ready to interact, whether that's investigating something new or simply soaking up attention. Every week his personality becomes a little more defined, and it's been a joy watching him grow into such a sweet, people-oriented puppy.

I know the monkey face stage isn't every Pomeranian owner's favorite phase, but I always remind families that it's temporary. Before long, his adult coat will begin filling in, and all of that beautiful fluff will return. Underneath the awkward teenage haircut is the same wonderful little puppy with the loving personality that's been there all along.

UPDATE (July 16, 2026): Habby recently came back to us through no fault of his own.

Since returning, we've been getting reacquainted with his personality and helping him settle back into our routine.

He's an affectionate, playful puppy who is full of confidence and enthusiasm.

Like many puppies his age, he still needs help with basic manners, especially learning that hands aren't chew toys.

We believe he'll thrive with a family willing to provide clear boundaries, continued socialization, and positive training.

We're looking forward to watching his progress over the coming weeks and will continue posting updates here.
